The first 1,000 miles from Jeremy's perspective

First 1,000 miles
Jeremy Myers, Energy Advisor

We've finally reached our first 1,000 miles on the electric vehicle (EV), and I'd like to share my experience.

Overall driving experience

I can't believe how different the driving experience compares to a normal vehicle. The EV is much smoother with gradual acceleration in comparison to the jerkiness of a gas engine. It is such a quiet, smooth ride that it almost lulls you to sleep. (Don't worry, I won't fall asleep while driving the EV!)

I have become so accustomed to driving this vehicle that when I'm driving my truck, my wife's vehicle or another gas vehicle at work, I almost miss the EV.

Charging

I have learned that charging infrastructure is a big thing that everyone worries about. However, my life typically doesn't require me to charge anywhere else than at work right now. I'd advise that others considering an EV evaluate their driving habits and look at where they travel every day. I'd be surprised if they didn't come to a similar conclusion for their day-to-day activities and driving habits and learn that they can charge at home every night.

Other things that I've learned about charging is that charging is so much easier than getting fuel such as gasoline or diesel at a gas station. Think about how much time we spend on a weekly basis at a gas station. You stop, fuel up, and maybe go inside the gas station to get something to drink. Charging at home while you sleep seems more convenient.

Everyone likes the EV

The EV has become the office "go to" vehicle. The EV is now turned in to the "popular kid" and people enjoy driving it. We'll share more on this topic in a future blog post.
